It is a little tricky as you have to select which feature you wish to add, then select the color, repeating this every time you make a change.
Capture Image: The Capture Image feature includes highlighting, boxes, and adding text to the image.When ready, click Capture Image, Capture Video, Redo, or Cancel.Note the space size numbers change as you make adjustments. After removing your finger from the left mouse button, you may click and drag the orange border bars to adjust the captured image space.Draw a box around whatever you wish to capture.
To take a screenshot or video, move your mouse over the yellow ball and it will expand to give you three choices: Capture, History, or More (Settings and other features). The yellow half circle might be annoying at first, but you will soon ignore it or lose it among your other colorful screens. You can move it anywhere you wish along the edges if it gets in your way. Once installed and started, a small ball of yellow sunshine will sit along the edge of your computer monitor. With this program you can record your screen and have your webcam on a corner. Yes, Screen-Cast-Omatic is a great alternative to Jing. You can run Jing on any system, such as Windows 7 and up, MacOS, Linux, and more. You can also share your screen with your friends, export to YouTube, or store it so you can watch it later. With the free version you can record a maximum length of five minutes, but with the premium plan you have unlimited recordings. Other apps allow you to start recording the whole screen immediately, but with Jing, record exactly what you want. You start a new capture by pressing the button, specify the region on the screen that you want to record. From here you can start a new capture, view the history of your captures, and more settings. The first thing you’ll notice after installation, is a little circle at the top of your screen. Or, capture a particular problem and share it with Tech Support through a video file. Specifically, if you work with a software that requires a lot of training, you could record the process and then provide the file to someone that needs that training. This app enables you to do things on your computer and capture what you are doing so that it can be replayed. 
Jing is a very easy to use app with a nice little interface, which provides enough features for most users to create their own desktop recordings.
